Hey dreamers,
There is not much to this post, but it’s 11/12 and I’m in a good mood. I had aloo parathas for breakfast (YUM), Nescafé coffee, hung out with my grandparents and family, and now I’m doing lowkey work while watching Harry Potter in Hindi. But the movie is on pause while my brother went to take a shower. Naturally, to fill the time, I’ve been scrolling on Instagram.
And I came across a post of a love poem that I absolutely love. And so, I basically just made a list of my favorite love quotes, lyrics, poems of all time.
Now, I kind of did this before: during my White Nights blog post, I intertwined lyrics from one of my favorite Taylor Swift Songs and Dostoevsky’s insane <100-page masterpiece.
- Lovelorn and nobody knows; love thorns all over this rose…
- “I’ve made up my mind to find out all about you minutely. But as I have no one from whom I can find out anything, you must tell me everything fully yourself … tell me your whole history”
- And I break down, then he’s pulling me in…
- “I would love you so, that even if you still loved him, even if you went on loving the man I don’t know, you would never feel that my love was a burden to you. You would only feel every minute that at your side was beating a grateful, grateful heart, a warm heart ready for your sake”
- What if, all I need is you?
- “If you forgive me, the memory of you will be exalted by a feeling of everlasting gratitude which will never be effaced from my soul. . . . I will treasure that memory: I will be true to it, I will not betray it, I will not betray my heart: it is too constant”
As a sucker for love letters, I now have a long list of sweet love quotes and “Sandhya-specific” declarations that make me feel like I too should be in White Nights. Some are an unhinged type of love, some are a poetic type of love, and some are a quiet yearning. There’s very little I could say that would add anything to the following:
