Music Makes the World Go Round

Hello everyone 🙂

Finals started on Wednesday, and along with finals means that my entire diet becomes Coffee and Luna Bars, which makes me feel like I’m a Gilmore Girl! I’ve officially finished 2 out of my 6 exams and it’s nice to finally be able to breathe. Its also the first day in 15 days that it wasn’t raining outside, so things are looking up.

A few days ago I went to the review session for my Ethnomusicology class in CSPAC. This building should be familiar to those who remember my visit to the Opera. This building is absolutely beautiful, and makes me feel so empowered. It reminds me of when I used to play piano and dance. Even though I’ve said Sayonara to the Performing Arts Life, something about that building had me craving it again.

Even the library is absolutely beautiful – with the endless bookshelves, and the beautiful tables that really make you feel like you’re in a college library. A library where all of world’s information is in your midst and you know that from these books, you have the power to make a change in the world.

Although it took me an extra 20 minutes to find the room where the review session was taking place (seriously, I’m terrible at mazes), it was such an enriching experience. Walking by the tables where three students were discussing the legacy of Sculthorpe, the café where one student was emphasizing how well she had to do on her presentation and hence was justified in chugging  4 coffees in the past 16 hours, and the practice rooms where students played a myriad of instruments, was truly an experience I won’t forget.

Everyone could tell I was out of place in the building, but I didn’t really care because I was like a kid in a candy store. I’ve been finding excuses to visit CSPAC for the past few days just to take a walk inside and feel that empowered feeling once again. I think next year I’m going to study here a lot 🙂

Oh no! I take it back – it just started pouring. But I’m sitting in the lounge with only a few more exams to go, listening to Break Away by Kelly Clarkson and it’s strangely therapeutic 🙂

Goodluck to everyone with finals, and a special shout out to my Mom who, this week, finished all of her requirements for her Graphic Design Program 🙂 Happy Graduation 3.0! 🙂
