Valentine’s Day Twenty Twenty Three

Cheers babe!! It’s Valentine’s day again 🙂

So the first obligatory thing I’m going to point out is my previous Valentine’s posts: see 201620192020, 2021, 2022.

So as you all know, I’m very big on self-care on Valentine’s day. You all are free to read the old posts to understand my complicated feelings about this holiday, but you know what, this year it was a love-love relationship.

I had a wonderful Valentine’s weekend: On Friday, I finally got to have my birthday photoshoot. So if any of you have been keeping track, it’s my golden birthday this year! So, I thought it would be fun to celebrate me and do something nice for myself and get a professional photoshoot done! I got the sneak peek for that this past weekend and I’m already geeking. Then the rest of the weekend I got to spend time with some of my favorite people. It was my college best friend’s engagement party on Saturday and I really channeled all of my energy to party hard on this dance floor. It’s like, when Hindi and Bollywood music start playing, my muscles and bones take over and I’m forever tearing it up on the dance floor. I watched the videographer’s recording later on, and I didn’t even realize how happy I was or how happy I looked.

So that was pretty much my weekend. This week has been off to the usual start — work wise. Still got lots to do and no time to do it, so tons of late nights and very little sleeping.

But today is valentine’s day! On select Tuesdays at work we have Pizza Tuesdays, so I came right in time for work for that. I picked a nice pink dress, curled my hair, and was wearing my new Ted Baker London heels. And it’s always nice being told that I look pretty. I got to hang out with a few other associates and chat with them. Then later I got coffee with another first-year associate who is a good friend of mine, and we saw a man outside our office building selling flowers, so we excitedly bought some. She bought beautiful peach roses and I bought an assorted bouquet.

I did stay at work “pretty late” aka 8pm, which is later than I usually stay in the office. Generally, I’ll lave at a decent time and then just work from home, but this week I’m cat/house-sitting with my friend Katie, so we’re spending the week together! Basically, without my monitors, I’m largely useless, so I wanted to get as much work done as possible at work before going home.

But now, it’s 2.5 hours later. We’ve happily eaten sushi, we’re watching When Harry Met Sally, because, and don’t judge me too hard on this, I haven’t seen it before. I know, I know, I’m ridiculous. But now we’re drinking wine, I’m sitting with a blanket on the couch while she does some work in the kitchen, and I’m writing this blog post.

This year I didn’t do my usual self-care go-tos. I also didn’t get to make chocolate covered strawberries because work has been insanely busy. I did, however, buy a bunch of chocolate for myself from Target, and signed all of the chocolate boxes as “To Sandhya, From Sandhya” which has been a great deal of fun. But I guess part of being nice to yourself and taking care of yourself is doing what makes you happy in any given moment and giving yourself grace at all times.

That’s pretty much it for my life update. I’m pretty sure my Galentine’s with Katie is going to last all week, so cheers to good friends, good vibes, and good memories.

Until next time!
